There are Some Getting in a Frenzy Right Now

Some Hockey Refs are doing a "Push for the Playoffs" right now.
  • They are working out when no one is watching.
  • They are busting their butt, imagining there is an NHL supervisor in the crowd while they work a Pee Wee B game.
  • They are studying other elite refs, to make themselves better.
While some guys are "coasting" and "taking it easy", some guys are bringing some serious blood, sweat, and tears.  You see, the best don't turn it on when the playoffs come, and hope they have a seat on the bus.

The best are bringing it right now.  Because...you are only as good as your last game.

What Does the SWAT Team Get You?

Have you heard??  Ultimate Officials ran an off-season workout contest...did you miss out?  If so, here are some things you missed out on (these are some of the testimonials):

  • "I never took absolute starting measurements or pictures before round one. I never started it for a beachbody or measurement increases. I was skeptical and did not think anything would change. Boy was I wrong. I had ZERO definition anywhere on my body. The now pictures are pretty nice. Wish I had start ones to compare to.

The biggest thing I have found is that I now recover a lot faster. Prior to this my hamstrings would spasm severely if I worked them too hard. That is not the case anymore. Post workout soreness is now very minimal if any."

  • "The results that I got were i got a half inch on my right bicep and 3/4 of an inch on my left bicep.  My stamina is much better now and cut my mile time down from 6:47 to 6:31.  My chest did not get bigger, but I feel stronger in my chest and back.  I am now able to do 40 pushups in one straight set which is better than when i started where I could only do 21. "

  • "How did I do ,, simple I did everything I said I was going to do , there where times that I missed but I tried to make it up as best as I could. After the 3rd week of the program I felt it was time to step it up so I introduced P90X into the mix and never looked back. I am about to finish my first round in a couple of weights and I feel Great I love what I have accomplished in a short period of time. I look forward to continued results over the next round that I do. I notice my conditioning has paid off where as officiating numerous games I would be winded , now bring it on , I feel great and look for more.

This is just my starting point I plan on this LIFE change to sink in real deep and look to become better and better. "

  • "Results: My weight from 187 lbs to 176 lbs (going back to Xmas time last year I weighed 200 lbs).  My waist dropped an inch from 36 to 35. "
  • " I know my thighs have grown because my compression shorts definitely fit a LOT tighter.  I know I have gotten strong and faster in my legs and that was one area I brought it nearly every time.  Happy to be up 6 lbs, I was hoping to eclipse the 160 mark with this as those 6 came early, but I plateaued after that.  I think part of that comes from losing some fat and gaining some muscle.  I know endurance and strength have improved.  "
  • "There is no question that my core, legs and stamina are better than they were when I started and I will continue w/ my 3 per week, plus playing hockey once a week and officiating as many games as I can."

  • "Overall weight loss in 90 Days: 30 pounds.  I was 250-255 90 days ago.  Today the scale reads 220.5-224.5!  Really amazing! "

All I can say is that RESULTS speak for themselves.  What also happens here is the all of these guys are getting Bigger and Better games (at a MUCH faster period than ever before!).

The Ultimate Officials [Early Season Camp] is running right now.  Check it out! (or just get missed...again...you make the call!)

This is About Practicing EXCELLENCE!

July 31 is the deadline to get in on our Fitness Contest. For the past 4 weeks I have been presenting this opportunity for referees and, true to form, the percentages have followed this contest as well.

What percentages???

Life is a Bell Curve. Here's how it goes...

The bottom 50% are just along for the ride, and some of them want a free ride (those people won't even get up off the couch, put down their remote, and do something -- I asked 75 referees to be a part of this...only 30 raised their hand, so that puts the "non-hand raisers" in the bottom 60% = OUCH!!).

Of the top 40% "hand raisers", only 15 have actually TOOK ACTION and stepped forward to get those Bigger and Better games ( so the ACTION people are in the top 20%).

Of the 15 people, I asked them to send in a before and after photo, measurements, and set up a plan. We have now sorted everyone down to 8 people...they are in the top 10%.

Here's the 10% Club = Neil Missling, Kevin Cassidy, Jim Jarvis, Mike Diebold, Phil Stodgell, Nick Bradshaw, Cameron Voss, and Nick Dornfeld (there are two guys in Duluth, MN rocking it, too!)

You know what...these guys are working their butts off. I LOVE IT!!!

Here's what these guys understand about practicing EXCELLENCE...this is a part of an article written by Dan Kennedy, that I have copied for you. Pay close attention to the part about ASSOCIATIONS (not ref associations, but the "crowd" you hang out with):

"EVERY population divides roughly into 1%, 4%, 15%, 40% and 40% groups. Many more at the bottom than at the top...

YOU may choose to move from one group [in life - in our case, a league, level, or playoffs] to another by "moving" your ambition, thinking, acquisition and use of information, initiative, effort. But regardless of your choices, the fact that the majority of your peers are dead-wrong won't change a whit. For the most part, where a particular person gets to in this continuum from the top 1% to the bottom 40% has much less to do with differences in genetics, upbringing, education, opportunity or luck than it does decisions. Associations matter a lot, but they are or can be chosen. The first critical decision for upward movement is ALWAYS distrust the majority. It's not an easy decision to make. It's even harder to stick to. To see a majority stampeding north and stubbornly turn south. Not easy at all. To remember that whatever "everybody" is infatuated with you should spurn, a damnably difficult task."

The top 1% of ALL officials refereeing hockey in the United States are in the NHL, AHL, ECHL and NCAA Div 1 College. That's about 260 refs out of 26,000.

This isn't about getting you to the Pro's or College. This is about practicing EXCELLENCE.

Girls Kick Butt! -- The Goals You Have Determine the Work to Get There

You Want Bigger and Better Games...

Right?

That's my assumption. I highly doubt that you are sitting around at your house, or you woke up this morning, and said, "I wish someone would ask me to join a Fitness Contest today!"

I highly doubt that you are that much into physical fitness that would be wanting such a thing. That's my other assumption (you know what they say about people who assume???).

However, permit me the opportunity to work with you and I will help you get those bigger and better games. Here is just a small sampling of what others have said about the programs:

"JB i have started my workout process... I am putting it on the line hear, i will be transformed into a great official... I am going to put forward every effort on this, like i stated in a different email... I will stay in touch and u do the same, Thanks again JB for helping me on this."
Brandon G.

"JB, Thank you so much, that is great news!!! I plan on being apart of the new challenge.

You just made my day!! Thank you so much, I won't disappoint...Thank you for getting my name out
there, now I'll have to do the rest!!"

Shane P.
"I have seen quite a few power skating instructors in my life and JB was by far the most dynamic in his delivery; giving a wide variety of instructional methods and being able to demo them to a tee. You can tell that his passion for the game reflects in his instruction."
Chris Allman

Why do they push themselves? Why do they seek instruction and guidance? For the exact same reason that I choose to push myself = I want to experience the "high" of working in front of 19,500 fans again...I want to experience the satisfaction of receiving the email that you have been selected to work the semi-finals...I want to experience the feeling of "doing my best" and "a job well done."

It's not about the exercise. It's not about the supplements. It's not about the plan. It's about what it can get me. That's the same reason there are (2) girls up at Grand Forks, ND kicking butt on all the guys up there...they want [bigger and better things].

Data - Why It Should Mean a Hill of Beans to You

I've got your stats...loads of them! Want to know how many times you will typically sprint up and down the ice? Want to know how often you'll stand still out there? Want to know what are the most common face off locations? Want to know what are the most common stoppages in a game (like goalie freezing the puck, etc)???

You probably don't. You just want to work Bigger and Better games. Don't blame you...I do, too! I want that feeling of having 8,000 people crammed into the State Fairgrounds Coliseum again. I want that feeling of working on T.V. again. I want that championship game again. And so do you...that' why you work the games. You love it and you want more.

How can you get there? How can you get on T.V.?

Data will help. It's a start...come along for the ride. If you haven't told me you are in for the Fitness Contest yet, what are you waiting for? Don't you want those BIG games?

How Many Refs are Gonna Bring It?

The 12 Week Transformation Challenge is a CONTEST...because:

* reffing is a contest for spots in leagues, for the "big games", for the playoff spots, to see who's the best!

* pushing yourself is the exact Mental Discipline that ALL elite level referees have

* pushing yourself with a GROUP of Dedicated/High Achieving/Ass-Kickers has shown over the years to be the MOST EFFECTIVE way

* creating that "WANT" in your mind is more than becoming, Bigger, Stronger, and Faster

New Fitness Challenge Starts This Month

Today is G.W. Bush's Birthday (it's my wife's birthday, too). If he wants to look for weapons of Mass Destruction, he can look no further than the SWAT Team.

There will be an informational meeting at my home this Wednesday at 7 pm. Here are among the things that will be covered:

* the best hockey referee specific workouts out there at this time

* the best information on nutrition

* my good friend, Charlie Brookins, will introduce a supplement that I can finally say is a
"Magic Pill" that will allow you to train harder, recover faster, move easier, have less aches and pains, and have more energy. I use it, love it, and highly recommend it for all of you! (This part of the meeting may be worthwhile to more of you than anything else!).

* Information on our upcoming treadmill training sessions at Velocity Hockey Center. In fact, we will be going on a field trip together to watch Tony Lancette train the boys who are just finishing up the first round of training there.

* Much, much more.

Address:

3416 Jidana Lane
Minnetonka, MN 55345
