Seriously, People, I Don't Get It

What in the wide world of sports is going on here?  And I am not referring to all the shenanigans going on...I am referring to the uniforms these officials are wearing.

What do you think?:

a. Rorschach test gone bad

b. kindergarten kids color painting

c. bad acid trip

d. All of the above

ATTENTION: UO is very Brett Favre-like

If Brett Favre can show his "member", so can we...that could be scary.  Read on...

Good ol' Brett Favre - future Hall of Fame QB, Wrangler jeans guy, incessant waffling decision-maker, sexter...
Don't be so melodramatic, Brett

The guys is now (in)famous for (allegedly) showing his junk to a former NY Jets employee (what a dope he is).  Is that why he like the song, "Pants on the Ground" so much???

************
Well, UO shows our "members" too!

************
The only difference is that we're not afraid to do it.  In fact, we're blatant about it now -- pictures, videso, letters in the mail, email -- we're baring it all!  For a price (does that make it a 'peep show' if you have to pay to observe?), a portion of which goes to Hockey Fights Cancer, and you get Bigger and Better games:

"I just want to say thanks again for what you're doing for me and the others with UO.  I know I'm much further along as an official after joining UO for a year than the 6 years on my own beforehand.  Also, it's great that you're using this as a benefit for Hockey Fights Cancer."

Aaron Barlow, W. St. Paul, MN

I realize that Halloween is coming up, and it can be a spooky  time (Cameron Voss, one UO member, just called 244 PIM's in one game!), and there could be some common fears among hockey refs.  The fear of being caught in public with your pants on the ground psychologically for a ref is akin to blowing a call.  What I mean by that is something like blowin a call where a plyer breaks his neck (see info here).  That's what happened  to me.  Go click on that link to see why/how I lost may balls.

No More Losing My Balls
Scary?  Not.

I have no fear in trying to sell you this membership.  None whatsoever, because I believe in the effect for you and the goodness in what UO does.  If there's one thing I do like about Favre it's that he shows no fear on the football field (ever seen the guy play with no chin strap?).  Refereeing with a "No Fear" mentality is part of the package (pun intended) offered from UO.  It's all about channeling your nervousness and anxiety to perform at a higher level.

You know that broken neck incident?  That could've screwed me for the rest of my life.  Instead, I've used it to take my game to a whole new level.

So...get over your fear of commitment (ain't no wishy-washy elite level refs out there).

Join our unit...

This ain't no junk...

Our membership is swelling...

Don't be a little weeney...

Don't shrink away!

** Those who join UO at our low $0.99 price (way cheaper than paying off a mistress or, heaven forbid, some divorce attorney ant settlement - you better get ready, Brett), and do so by Oct. 31, will get a FREE bag tag.

UO Hockey Pick Up Game July 30th

The second ever (not annual, because I think we'll go with the monthly theme, if there's enough interest - dude, there's gotta be enough interest!) Ultimate Officials Pick Up Hockey Game (from now on will be referred to as the UOPU Hockey Game) is scheduled for Friday night July 30th.

Who: Hockey refs who want to "goof around"

What: UOPU Hockey Game

When: Friday July 30th at 10:30pm

Where: Velocity Hockey Center in Eden Prairie, MN (this rink is 135 X 65 = no offsides or icing = no backchecking = you are always in the play = a blast!)

Why: Because we all should get out and skate more often (hockey game skating, that is...).

Why reason number 2:

Be there or be square!

I Found this to Be Slightly Amusing

Definitely not fall on the floor laughing, but still enough to make you crack a smile.  At least the following line has to make you smile:

"That the Pens are gonna fall like...Like that pr*ck Matt Cooke when he tries to fight":

I'm Such a Sports Rube

Any of you out there like me? Have sports on your brain most of the time? Watch sports on T.V. most of the time?  Open up the newspaper and IMMEDIATELY go to the 'Sports Section'?  You maybe even don't get to the rest of the paper?  Watch Sportscenter on the T.V. for "news of the day"?

Any of you out there like me?

For those of you like me, you've gotta have some fun this week, eh?  Masters golf...NCAA Frozen Four...heck, I'm such a rube, I'll watch some of my UO Brothers at the USA Hockey National Championships!

*****************

The House Always Wins

This is me in a nutshell career-wise = I substitute teach for a day job (I love working with kids) and I watch hockey games (occassionally reffing in them, too - like 91 of them this season) at night.  Two jobs that I absolutely love!

The problem is that I don't belong to an office/work place/building, so I no longer get in on the NCAA pools/football picks/Super Bowl numbers/Master's pools.  I mean...c'mon...the best part of all of this is talking trash with your fellow participants.

My wife's career is in management, so it is big-time frowned upon her if she joins an office pool, so she's got nobody either.

Well...we've got each other now.  BR (ie 'bragging rights') in the house and we bet each other and trash talk each other.  We will forget the part that she currently has the BR, because I lost the NCAA by  4 points, and we will focus on two major events this weekend: (1) Miami needs to beat Boston College in hockey for me to win that pool, and (2) we are going to draft for the Master's tournament.

Who should I draft?  Click on comments and let me know.

* On a side note: What does all this betting and watching sports amount to?  (1) entertainment, (2) ongoing interest in a 'speacialized way' of current events, and (3) it fuels my competitive desire.

$400 in Busted Composites goes Viral

This one is a few days old now, but I just gotta put a video of this on a hockey referee website:
(I think the funniest thing is the player to Playfair's left is wetting-his-pants laughing the whole time, even trying to cover up his mouth with his glove)

Bracket Busters and Music

So...I asked my hockey refs in our UO Hockey Referee Camp for some music ideas to put together some highlight videos of our boys in action (guys: thanks for the input -- I am working on them and you will be pleased, but it will take a bit of time = due out Easter Weekend).

I got some interesting input.  Low Rider by War?  Really?

To each their own, I guess.

Speaking of guessing...who'da thunk that Denver University would lose to Rochester Institute of Technology?  C'mon, boys!  Not only do you make the WCHA look bad, you totally busted up my bracket!!  I picked you guys to win for cripe sakes!

So, in a nod to music (I definitely did not say 'good music') and NCAA hockey, I found this gem floating around out there:
(side note: That first goal by Tony Hrkac, I remember being at the rink for that one, it was against University of New Hampshire, incidentally another team that lost last night that screwed up my NCAA hockey bracket!) -

You want to know how I know so much about video editing??  I took an elective class when I was going for my Master's Degree in Education on "Editing Digital Video".

So...I am digging around my "stuff" in the laundry room storage the other day and I unearth this beauty!  Enjoy:

All I Got to Share About Tiger

I have written on here before about how much I admire Tiger Woods and his killer instinct, his drive for perfection, his work ethic.

And now this...

All I have to say right now is the Tiger, Buddy...man up. Don't go hide in the corner.

This is funny:
